President Obama to visit Jordan Friday
Amman, March 16 (Petra) -- US President Barack Obama will pay a two-day visit to Jordan for talks with His Majesty King Abdullah II on bilateral cooperation and regional issues.
President Obama is scheduled to arrive in Amman on Friday, March 22.
High on the agenda of the talks are ways to further deepen the strategic partnership between Jordan and the US, and US support for Jordan’s comprehensive reform process.
King Abdullah and President Obama will discuss the escalating Syrian crisis, and the huge responsibility shouldered by Jordan, as it hosts the largest number of Syrian refugees in the region.
On the peace process, His Majesty will stress the urgent need to revive Palestinian-Israeli talks on the basis of the two-state solution, which provides the only formula for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace.
After the talks with His Majesty on Friday, the US President is scheduled to visit the rose-red city of Petra on Saturday.
