Thailand provides Jordan with rainmaking technology
Amman, Aug 6 (Petra) - Jordan is planning to benefit from Thailand’s know-how in the artificial rainmaking process and to deploy the technology during drought seasons in the Kingdom.
Senate President Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh on Wednesday discussed with visiting Thai experts the issue of cloud seeding, and means of boosting cooperation in this field.
During the meeting, Rawabdeh highlighted bilateral relations between the two Kingdoms and mutual cooperation in various fields, especially in the rainmaking technology.
He expressed the hope that the cloud seeding project in Jordan will achieve positive results in the Kingdom, especially since Jordan suffers water scarcity.
Thai Ambassador to Jordan Pirya Khempon praised his country’s relations with Jordan and said the delegation met with a number of Jordanian officials to discuss ways to ensure the success of artificial rainmaking project.
Thailand will provide Jordan with assistance in the sector to help solve the Kingdom’s water shortages.
The project focuses on how to increase water availability in Jordan, both for drinking, and for agricultural purposes. Thailand has a successful history of artificial rainmaking through a technique developed by the King of Thailand, who thus holds the patent on this rainmaking process known in Thailand as "Royal Rain." //Petra//S Kh 6/8/2014 - 02:57:07 PM
