The Dead Sea, March 23 (Petra) -- The upcoming Arab Summit has its political importance as well as its economic, social and developmental impact, which will reflect positively on the Arab nation's ability to face challenges, Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and Government Spokesman Mohammed Al Momani said.

In a press conference held at the Arab Summit's Media Center at the Dead Sea shores, Momani said that Jordan managed to add the issue of refugees and displaced to the agenda of the meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Conference. The issue will also be presented to the Arab leaders, during their summit meeting next week, the minister added.

The issue, he added, was added because of its importance and ramifications of refugees on host countries, mainly Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. "Jordan is one of the world's top hosts of refugees," Momani said, adding that refugees stand for 18 percent of the Kingdom's population. In this regard, the minister praised the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army, for their role in protecting the Jordanian borders and receiving refugees.

On Iraq, the Minister said that Jordan supports the Iraqi government's efforts to fight terrorism, while noting an Arab will to support Iraq to maintain its sovereignty and territorial unity.

Further, Momani reiterated Jordan's stance which refuses any interference in the internal affairs of all Arab countries.

As for Syria, the minister affirmed that Syria's flag and seat are still available, while voicing hope that parties of the Syrian conflict would solve their disputes, to allow Syria to take part in future summits.
