Amman, Dec. 6 (Petra)-Senate President , Faisal al-Fayez, on Wednesday sent letters to his world counterparts urging them to reach a unanimous stance to reject US administration plans to move US embassy to Jerusalem and to highlight grave ramifications of this step on Mideast stability, security and peace process efforts.

He, during an emergency Senate meeting here to discuss this issue, said his move underscored the dire need to work jointly, in a bid to respect international legitimacy resolutions on Jerusalem and to re-launch the stalled peace process.

" The King warned the US president of grave repercussions of his decision, which will impede Palestinians' hope of establishing their sovereign state with east Jerusalem as its capital," he added.

He underscored Jordan's unwavering stances towards the Palestinian cause and the Palestinians' historic rights.

The Kingdom's custodianship on the holy city, he said , showcases its staunch defense of its consecrated shrines there and added it has always been a top priority to the country.

He voiced the Senate's unequivocal support to the King's stances to defend Jerusalem's Arab identity and to stop attempts to "Judaize or displace its inhabitants, adding Jerusalem is the key to peace and stability in the Middle East.

"The US intentions will sabotage the entire peace process and ignite sentiments of Muslims and Christians alike, will weaken the war on terrorism and will give the forces of extremism a chance to prosper," he pointed out.
