Amman, Feb.12 (Petra)-- A tangible drop in temperatures is expected on Monday, creating relatively cold conditions with clouds at various altitudes and a chance for light showers in the northern, central and southern areas of the Kingdom, according to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman will reach 18 degrees Celsius dropping down to 12 degrees at night, while in the Gulf of Aqaba mercury level will register a high of 25 degrees dropping down to 14 degrees at night.

A wet and cold air mass will start affecting the Kingdom as of Monday night, bringing heavy rain at times accompanied with thunder and lightning across the country, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk, the JMD added.

Mercury levels will continue to drop on Tuesday, becoming around their seasonal average. Therefore, the weather will be cold, cloudy with heavy rain at times accompanied with thunder and lightning in most regions. At night, the weather will gradually stabilize with decreasing clouds, the Department noted.

A slight rise in temperatures is expected on Wednesday but relatively cold weather will prevail in most parts of the country with clouds at high and medium altitudes and northwesterly moderate to light winds, the JMD further added.
