Jordan, Oman discuss parliamentary ties

Muscat, March 14 (Petra) - A Senate delegation, currently on a visit to Oman, discussed with Omani officials parliamentary relations and ways to enhance cooperation in various domains, mainly in the economic field.

Head of the delegation, Senator Nayef Al-Hadid said that the Kingdom enjoys strong ties with Oman at all levels, stressing that both countries are an oasis for security and stability in the Middle East and have common stance toward achieving peace in the region.

The delegation, which compromises Senators Haider Mahmoud, Bassam Talhouni, Hamad Al Maaitah and Ghazi Al Tayeb, met with the Chairmen of the Council of State of Oman Yahya bin Mahfoudh al-Mantheri and the Shura Council Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma'awali.

The Omani side highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries, praising Jordan's important role in defending regional issues as well as shouldering major burdens arising from the massive influx of refugees on its territory.

The delegation held a series of meetings with a number of governmental and economic institutions such as the Oman's Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
