Amman, Dec.7 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman al-Safadi continued his consultations on Thursday with a number of his counterparts to discuss ways to deal with the repercussions of the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a move rejected and deemed null and void by Jordan.

The contacts were made with Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Indonesian Foreign Minister Ritno Marsudi, Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawish Oglu, Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Djibouti's Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Yousef, whose country currently holds the presidency of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level.

Al-Safadi also made a call with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit and the Special UN Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolay Mladenov.

The minister will meet High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini in Brussel, Belgium on Friday, to discuss means to limit the negative consequences of the U.S. decision, launch an effective international movement to meet the right of the Palestinian people of establishing their independent state on the fourth of June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The top diplomat will also meet Belgian Foreign Minister, Didier Reynders.

Al-Safadi continues to actively engage with Arab and Muslim counterparts to coordinate stances prior to the meetings of the Ministerial Council of the League of Arab States, which Jordan called to convene in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday, as well as the Islamic summit next week.
